If you're going to be my friend,

Be my friend. Be in our friendship for only genuine intentions. Be around me, because you enjoy being around me. Stay around me, because you want us to learn something from each other. No matter who is around, stay my friend. Our dynamic shouldn't change no matter where we are or who we're with. Don't try to hurt me. I will see it, feel it, and know it; and it will take me a long time to forgive you for it. Don't try to make me feel lesser about myself, don't think that you are better than me. Don't try to break me down. Don't play mind games with me, don't ignore me. Don't give me attitude when I did nothing wrong. Let our friendship be one in which we both give. Don't try to take advantage of me because you think you can. Let me help you when I know you need help. Don't close yourself off. If you don't think I will understand, let me try to. I care about you, and never want to see you hurting. Let me be selfless when I want to be, and allow yourself the freedom to do a selfless act for me. Don't assume the worst in me. Don't think that I am out to get you. Don't be afraid to trust me, if I give you every reason to. Don't break my trust. Then we will have nothing. Be yourself around me, don't be afraid to let us be comfortable around each other, even in the most uncomfortable situations. Just because our surroundings change, doesn't mean we have to. Don't compete with me, because real friendship is the furthest thing from a competition. Don't envy me, unless it is in positive character traits that you would like to acquire.  Most importantly, love me, in the most simple and sincere way possible. Love me when I'm crying, when I'm happy, when I go through a dark time period in my life, when I succeed, when I'm irrational, and when you see me at my absolute worst. Don't stop loving me because you don't like what you see for a short period of time, because you know that underneath I am the same person.
If you're going to be my friend, just try to do all of these things. That is all I could ever ask for.
